Dimapur, July 24 (MExN): Two books by Fr. Dr. P.S. Varghese, former principal of MGM College, Dimapur, were released at the University of Rhode Island (URI), USA, during the 27th International Nonviolence Summer Institute on July 23.
The books, Peace and Reconciliation in Community Life, authored by Varghese and published by Heritage Publishers, Nagaland, and Proud to Be a Teacher, co-authored with Dr. Nimmi Varghese and published by Orange Publications, Bhilai, were unveiled at the Centre for Nonviolence and Peace Studies.
According to a statement, Peace and Reconciliation in Community Life explores peacebuilding, reconciliation and community transformation through the philosophy of nonviolence, while Proud to Be a Teacher contains 60 reflections on education, values, ethics, spirituality, peace, holistic education and the teaching profession.
The books were released in the presence of International Nonviolence Summer Institute Director Dr. Thupten Tendhar, Certified Level III Kingian Nonviolence Trainer Richard Tarlaian, Assistant Professor Deirdre Morrison, Peace and Nonviolence Providence Center Director Shawn Lee, Certified Level III Kingian Nonviolence Trainer Jonathan Lewis, Certified Level II Kingian Nonviolence Trainer Dr. Nimmi Varghese, the author, and participants of the Level I and Level II Kingian Nonviolence Certification Training Programme.
The release marks another milestone in Varghese's literary and academic journey and reflects his continued commitment to promoting peace, holistic education and community transformation through scholarship and the principles of nonviolence, the statement added.
