Chumukedima, October 5 (MExN): The Chumukedima Area Village Council Association (CAVCA) and Chumukedima Area GBs Association (CAGBA) have extended support to the September 10 public resolution which resolved to demand CBI enquiry for impartial and independent enquiry in fuel adulteration case and to re-arrest the kingpins who are out on bail.
CAVCA and CAGBA in a joint press statement expressed pain to state that “with all the proof and evidences of fuel adulteration caught red handed, the kingpins of fuel adulteration are roaming free.”
Affirming their unflinching support, the associations said, “We have been robbed in broad daylight. The lifespan of thousands of vehicle valuing thousands of crores in Nagaland have been drastically shortened.” Therefore, CAVCA and CAGBA stated that such heinous crime should be dealt with all seriousness and sincerity by the competent authority so that these criminals are brought to book and punished as per the law of the land.
Further, CAVCA and CAGBA are of the strong view that the demand of Coordination Committee on Fuel Adulteration (CCoFA) is fully justified and necessary to bring the said case to a logical conclusion.
It may be pertinent to note that the dateline given by CCoFA to Government to institute CBI enquiry ends on October 8 and on failing to do so there is a proposed indefinite National Highway bandh within the state.
In this regard, CAVCA and CAGBA appeals to the Government of Nagaland to accede to the demand of CCoFA or discuss the issue across the table to avoid the proposed National Highway bandh in the interest of all.
While observing that numerous civil societies, organizations, associations, unions have voiced their support to CCoFA through the media, transport unions have gone off road in support of CCoFA demands, yet the government appears to have lackadaisical attitude towards this case of high public interest. “It is time the Government of Nagaland shows its sincerity and responsibility to the people who they represent by dealing with the case on priority as may deem fit and necessary,” CAVCA and CAGBA stated.
