
Dimapur, February 25 (MExN): The 35th session of Aghunaqa Area GBs Association (AAGBA) was held on February 23 last at Pihekhu village with MLA KL Chishi as the guest speaker and MLA Hewoto Awomi as guest of honour.
A press note issued by the president of AAGBA stated that KL Chishi dwelt on the powers and functions of the GBs, which plays vital role in the development of the societies and its respective village. They should be grateful to God for its gift and not to be carried away by any self-vested interest. Any funds meant for the village’s development must be sincerely and judiciously implemented in order to reflect his own leadership qualities through his village.
Hewoto also exhorted the gathering on the role of the GBs and its association, as Aghunaqa area falls under the Disturb Area Belt – DAB (bordering Assam), where all kinds of "development activities are neglected under the pretext of DAB area as compared to other villages under Western Sumi area". The GBs should be united and actively participate in all round development of the village/area without “any ism like party affiliation, favoritism, nepotism etc. while taking developmental activities".
The note also stated that KL Chishi donated ` 150,000 towards the association, ` 25,000 towards cultural troupe and distributed 103 numbers of GB red shawl to all the GBs of the area. Also Hewoto donated
` 50,000 towards the association. The guests were accompanied by DCC president and colleagues, president Dimapur I ACCC and colleagues and PS to MLAs.
