Dimapur, September 7 (MExN): Major General Bhaskar Kalita, Yudh Seva Medal has assumed the charge of Additional Director General (ADG), National Cadet Corps (NCC) Directorate of North East Region on September 6.

Informing this in an update, Col Daniel Lotzem, CO 24 NCC, Kohima said that General Kalita who is from the state of Assam, did his schooling from Sainik School Goalpara, Assam and is an alumni of National Defence Academy, NDA Pune and Indian Military Academy, IMA Dehradun. He was commissioned into 19 Kumaon in June 1985. 

The General Officer has held many important regimental, command and staff appointments including Commanding Officer 19 Kumaon, Commander 11 Mountain Brigade, Deputy Director General (DDG) Weapons & Equipment (WE) Contract Negotiation Committee (CNC), Integrated Head Quarter (IHQ) of Ministry of Defence (Army), General Officer Commanding (GOC) 56 Infantry Division and General Officer Commanding (GOC) Uttarakhand Sub Area, it stated. 

He was also instrumental as the Chief Project Co-ordinator (CPC) at Head Quarter Integrated Defence Staff (IDS) managing the prestigious twin projects of National War Memorial and National War Museum. The General Officer has been awarded the Chief of Army Staff’s (COAS) commendation card in 2010 and Yudh Seva Medal (YSM) in 2014, the update added.
