Pfütsero Govt College celebrates Women’s Day

Pfutsero, March 8 (MExN): The International Women’s Day under the theme, ‘gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow’ was celebrated at Pfütsero Government College (PGC) on March 8. It was organised by the District Administration in collaboration with Chakhesang Mother’s Association (CMA), Chakhesang Women Welfare Society (CWWS) and Indian Social Responsibility Network (ISRN) and hosted by PGC, Women Cell.

A press release received here stated that Avelu Ruho, NCS, Joint Secretary to the Government of Nagaland graced the occasion as the special guest. In her address, she encouraged women to participate in policy making bodies and emphasised that the comprehension of women in certain area is understood in-depth by women alone and to fight this she encouraged the tool of grace and dignity in a woman. 

The event also sensitized the gathering through speech competition on the theme, with Zocheu Thele, Chovelu D Vadeo and Khruvi Victor Zholia securing the first, second and third position respectively. Interpretation and display of Chakhesang traditional attires was presented by CMA with much wisdom and knowledge depicted in the attires. 

Kehile Rengma, District Co-Ordinator (ISRN) highlighted on the impact of COVID-19 on Women. The CWWS launched ‘Eche’ sanitary pads and diapers. The closing remark was given by Asu Chuzho, Women Cell, PGC. The programme was followed by sale and display of Chakhesang attires and products of Women Self Help Groups initiated by the CWWS.
