Kohima, July 21 (MExN): Government Higher Secondary School Pfutsero conducted Literary Day with the theme "Back to roots" at the school premises on July 19.

The event was marked by folk dance, folk song, debate, beat box, poetry recitations, drama and flower arrangements.

Kelhikha Kenye, vice principal, GHSS Pfutsero in his speech on “Naga culture and ways of life,” congratulated and thanked the literary committee for coming with innovative programmes for 2019 edition of the school’s literary day.

He exhorted the students to be proud of its cultural identity and be thankful to God for the rich cultural heritage.

While commenting on the beautiful cultural attires worn by the students and teachers, Kenye reminded them that Naga cultural attires should be worn with pride and honor.

Kenye also recalled how the moral values are passed from one generation to another by ancestors through folk tales, stories and through peer learning in traditional institutions such as Morungs.

He encouraged the students to learn Naga folk tales from elders when they visit villages. Kenye also spoke on dignity of labour, honesty and integrity which are integral part of Naga culture.

He reminded the gathering of the three golden guiding principles of the ancestors - “shame, fear and taboo” which helped the ancestors to live in harmony and self regulation. Kenye challenged the students to embrace these principles.

Earlier, the programme was led by Teisovilhou Koza.
