Girl children & mothers at NHAK felicitated

Organisers with the staff of Naga Hospital Authority, Kohima and others during the commemoration of the National Girl Child Day 2019.

Kohima, January 23 (MExN): The State Resource Centre for Women- Women Helpline-181, Sakhi-One Stop Centre in collaboration with Nagaland State Social Welfare Board and the Directorate of Social Welfare visited the Maternity Ward of Naga Hospital Authority, Kohima to felicitate the girl children and mothers as part of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) Week in commemoration of the National Girl Child Day 2019.


SRCW officials were accompanied by K. Atoli Sema, Jt. Director of Social Welfare Kezevio Kuotsu, Asst. Director, Dr. Abei K. Angami, HOD, Obs & Gynae Department along with the Medical Officers, CDPOs of Kohima, Jakhama, Chiephobozou and Tseminyu and the staffs of Women Helpline and Sakhi-One Stop Centre.


Gifts were given to both the girl child and all the mothers with a message that girl child is a blessing and today even the Government is doing its best to celebrate the life of the girl child. As one of the officials recounted that during her child’s delivery they had made a lot of preparations but there were incidents of mothers who were unable to bring even the basic need of their child because of poverty. Through this scheme she emphasized that though the action is small may it send ripples in the society to welcome every child with love and gladness, stated a press release.


This programme was initiated to celebrate the birth of the girl child, encourage the parents to bring up their child at par with the boys and to spread the awareness among people about the security and education of the girl child, it stated.
