Leshemi, October 4 (MExN): The Government Middle School, Leshemi observed cultural cum parents’ day on October 3 with theme ‘Reconnect through Culture and Traditions’.
The main objective of the programme was to enable children to preserve and honour the rich cultures and traditions which has been endowed by our forefathers and also to instill the minds of students the importance of cultural diversity.
Village Elder, Lhipelo Krome (90 years) was the resource person. He enlightened the students about the unique identity of our cultures and traditions which has been practiced since time immemorial. He also narrated the folk tales to the students. “With the passage of time, our unique identity has begun to lose its significance and as such he encouraged young students to preserve and uphold our rich and distinct cultures and traditions,” he stated.
Meanwhile, he emphasized on the importance of parenting to the parents. He also encouraged the parents to be more responsible and to support and cooperate with the school for the welfare of their children.
The programme was marked with different cultural activities displayed by the students.
