‘Go beyond the visions’: Series of career guidance seminar held

Dimapur, June 2 (MExN): The Ao Students’ Conference (AKM), Ao Students’ Union Kohima, and Ao Students’ Union Dimapur in collaboration with the Divine Bridge Ministries, New Delhi organized a series of career guidance seminar in Dimapur on May 29, Kohima on May 30, and Mokokchung on June 1.  

Under the theme ‘Go beyond the visions,’ various resource persons from varied field gave best suited career advice to the students based on their report of aptitude and personality, said a press release received here. Hundreds of students, mostly who recently cleared HSLC and HSSLC exams, attended the seminar and were given career counselling to help them choose a field that is in tune with their skills and their job expectations, it added.  

The resource persons of the seminars were Dr. Apong Longchar (DCH, MD), consultant paediatrician, Nikos Hospital, Er. Wapangnaro, SDO, Irrigation & Flood Control department, Kohima, Dr. SK Chauhan, Director, Alpine Institute, Dehradun, Ar. Sudhir Acharya, Director, Impact School of Architecture, Bangalore, Dr. Moatemjen, General Surgery, Kohima and Supongchiten, Director DBM, New Delhi.  

They gave technical assistance to the students from their respective field and assisted them in identifying career options and appropriate higher education routes for each, according to the release.  

It noted that EduAide Career and Counselling under Divine Bridge Ministries, a Delhi based NGO, was set up to give free counselling to students who want to pursue higher studies like MBBS, BDS, B.Sc in various fields, Hotel Managements, B.Pharma etc in various institutes in India.  

According to the Founder Director Supong, he undertook the initiative after having come across the exploitation of students by middlepersons who charge undue fees after giving wrong information. Many times, the students are enrolled in institute which is not recognized by the UGC, he said.  

Therefore, Divine Bridge Ministries tries to give counselling right from choosing subject of interest to appropriate institution. They also help in availing scholarships and concession discount for financially weaker sections, the release added.
