KOHIMA (MExN): GOC 3 Corps Lt General Z U Shah today said that the situation in Nagaland was ‘under control’. “Nagaland will go a long way and I am very certain the future of Nagaland is bright if peace prevails” he said in an interaction with media persons on the sidelines of the National Special Integration Camp held at Chakhabama.

Lt Gen Shah also expressed confidence that in a few months time the situation in Manipur would be stabilized with the Army gradually cooling down. “The rate of insurgents and the Army with various pockets are gradually being set under the civil government”, he said and added that the few pockets running without civil government would be brought under control.

“We are gradually reasserting the control and handing over the administration to the civil government, I am sure the situation would be stabilized in a few months time” he assured.

The GOC 3 Corps also pointed out that the Army had an excellent rapport with the civil government, with both parties actively sharing ideas.

With the Governor commenting that even with various developments in the field of education taking place in the State, there still exists certain lawlessness with a number of extortions, killings and abduction, Lt Gen Shah assured that they have been insisting on the army to abide by the ceasefire rules and maintained that if there was any loophole in the set of rules, the government would surely address it.

Earlier, 600 NCC cadets from all over the country attended the National Special Integration Camp held at Chakhabama.
The day was marked with cultural dances performed by various NCC cadets from the country as well as cultural dances, skits and songs presented by the NNC cadets of Kohima College.
