
Guwahati, May 26 (NNN): After waiting for more than a week since Tarun Gogoi took oath as chief minister, Assam ’s new ministry would be sworn in on Friday at ITA auditorium in Guwahati. The list of ministry was finalized on Wednesday evening. Gogoi was camping in New Delhi to finalize his council of minister since May 20. The chief minister took office oath on May 18 last. The chief minister returned to Guwahati on Thursday from New Delhi with list of ministers for his new cabinet. Gogoi said that it was a difficult task to finalize the name of 18 ministers for his new cabinet. Congress had 78 MLAs including chief minister Gogoi. Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) with 12 MLAs would also the new ministry.
Ministerial berth would also be given to BPF representatives. The Congress high command and AICC general secretary cum Assam in charge Digvijay Singh approved the list of minister. There was hectic lobbying in Congress quarter for ministerial berth in Gogoi’s new cabinet. Sources said several non-performing ministers in Gogoi's last government have been excluded from the ministry this time. They include Bhumidhar Barman, Gautam Bora and Akon Bora.
