
Dimapur, February 20 (MExN): Representatives of the Government of India (GoI), headed by AK Mishra, Adviser (North East) in the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), are currently in Nagaland engaging with a cross-section of stakeholders on the Naga peace talks.
As per sources, Mishra landed on February 19 and has been holding a series of separate meetings with the Naga political groups (NPGs), some civil society organisations, and other stakeholders since then. The team is slated to engage in more dialogue tomorrow.
The team met the N Kitovi Zhimomi-led GPRN/NSCN at an undisclosed location on Wednesday and reportedly informed the latter that there would be only ‘one solution on boarding all stakeholders.’
The team also called on Dr SC Jamir on the same day.
Meanwhile, on Thursday, the team held discussions with GPRN/NSCN Ato Kilonser Alezo Venuh, as well as the Working Committee, Naga National Political Groups (WC, NNPGs), led by Convener General (Retired) MB Neokpao Konyak. They also reportedly met with NSCN-K (Niki).
The team also held a meeting with the Forum for Naga Reconciliation as well as some CSOs.
A meeting with NSCN (IM) is likely on Friday, sources added.
WC, NNPGs for early consolidated& inclusive political solution
Meanwhile, a press release informed that WC NNPGs, led by its Convener General (Retd) Neokpao, Working Conveners P Tikhak Naga, Colonel (Retd) Isak Sumi, along with all the leaders of the Working Committee, met the GoI representatives headed by Mishra in Dimapur on February 20.
During the meeting, the Working Committee apprised the central leaders of recent developments and also emphasised the need for an early, consolidated, and inclusive political solution to the Indo-Naga conflict, stated the release issued by the Media Cell, WC NNPGs.
It also discussed developing political consensus among NPGs and stakeholders to expedite resolving the issue in a broad-based manner without excluding any stakeholders, it added.
As per the WC NNPGs, the ongoing efforts by various Naga CSOs to bring unanimity among conflicting NPGs were also reviewed at the meeting.
The meeting also stressed the need to maintain consistency and continuity in the process with patience, commitment, and clarity until the logical conclusion of the issue, it added.
