Goldfinch Club, New Reserve, emerged as the champion of the 8th Kohima Lotha Hoho Inter-Colony Fathers’ Football Tournament held at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima. In the final match today, Goldfinch Club defeated United FAM with a score of 3-1.
As champions, Goldfinch Club received a cash prize of Rs 20,000, along with a trophy and certificate, while the runner-up, United FAM, took home Rs 15,000, also accompanied by a trophy and certificate.
During the closing ceremony, Kohima Lotha Hoho chairman KN Mhonthung Lotha praised all 11 participating teams for their sportsmanship and commitment. “The objective of the tournament is to strengthen the bond of friendship and promote a healthy lifestyle,” he stated.
In addition to the final match, exhibition games featured the Kohima Lotha Officers’ football team defeating Kohima Lotha Hoho (KLH) 5-2, and the Inter-denominational Women’s Department overcoming Kohima Lotha Eloe Ekhung (KLEE) 2-0.
Individual awards were also presented: Thungchibemo Kikon from Goldfinch Club was named Player of the Tournament, while Benthungo Tungoe, also from Goldfinch Club, received the Best Goalkeeper award. Shibemo Khuvung from United FAM was recognized as Best Defender, and Lithungbemo Kikon from Goldfinch Club was the Highest Goal Scorer, netting an impressive 9 goals throughout the tournament.
The tournament, organized by Kohima Lotha Hoho, began on October 21, 2024, and featured 11 teams. The KLH organizing committee expressed gratitude to various sponsors and supporters for their contributions to the tournament’s success.
