Gov calls for collective action on World No Tobacco Day

Kohima, May 30 (MExN): Marking the World No Tobacco Day, the Governor Nagaland, PB Acharya has made an appeal stating that all must take collective action to reduce the burden of disease, death and economic consequences caused by tobacco use and exposure to second-hand smoke globally.  

The Governor called on the Government, civil societies and public to spread awareness and take all possible initiatives to highlight the enormous damage to health, development and the economy which is caused by the use of tobacco, stated the press note issued by PRO to Governor.  

The Governor stated that World No Tobacco Day was a global campaign, inviting everyone-from global leaders to the public in all countries - to focus on the health risks associated with tobacco use and to advocate for effective policies to reduce tobacco consumption.  

Governor Acharya also cautioned that the coming generations must be timely protected from the devastating consequences of tobacco consumption and exposure to tobacco smoke and reminded that all must reaffirm the commitment to reduce this menace.
