Gov greets media fraternity on National Press Day

DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 15 (DIPR): Greeting the media fraternity on the occasion of National Press Day which falls on November 16, Governor of Nagaland PB Acharya on Wednesday espoused trust that the occasion will motivate every member to be more responsive, responsible and proactive.  

“Media plays a pivotal role in shaping our society and has become a bridge between the government and the citizens. Be it television, newspapers, website or radio, the consistent coverage by media on each and every issue of the society creates bigger impacts, making it one of most important professions of these days,” a press communiqué from the Governor stated.  

The Governor said challenges before the media are wide ranging and do not follow any particular pattern, adding that they come from different quarters of the society.  

On the occasion, the Governor urged upon the media fraternity to play a vital role in creating a New India which is strong, prosperous and free of communalism, casteism and terrorism. He also expressed hope that the media of Nagaland will continue their excellent tradition of constructive journalism, displaying highest standards of professionalism in their duties and at the same time continue to represent the voice of the people of the State.
