Government assigns senior officers to all districts to review COVID-19 management

Kohima, August 13 (MExN): The Nagaland Government has assigned a senior administrative officer along with a senior officer from the Health Family Welfare Department to each of the district in the State to intensively review the steps being taken to manage the COVID-19 pandemic at the district level. 

According to the state DIPR’s report on Friday, each team of officers would make visits to their assigned districts and interact with the officials of the District Task Force, the civil society organizations and others to carry out review and guide them in refining /improving the management of COVID-19.

“The State Government seeing the need to be prepared for any eventuality of a third wave has decided to continue increasing COVID testing, vaccination coverage and strengthening of healthcare infrastructure in the districts and hence the decision was taken to assign the senior officers,” the DIPR report stated.

An orientation programme for the assigned senior officers was held on August 13 at the Secretariat Conference Hall, Nagaland Civil Secretariat, Kohima, it added.

Speaking during the programme, Nagaland Chief Secretary J Alam encouraged the teams to take the help of NGOs, civil society organizations, faith based organizations and village authorities in creating awareness among the general public.

He also underscored the need for the teams to make an intensive study and review all aspects in greater detail so as to effectively deal with the COVID-19 situation and ensure that the State improves its preparedness in the event of a third wave, the report stated.
