DIMAPUR, APRIL 26 (MExN): The allotment of several stalls located at Supermarket, Dimapur stand cancelled owing to non-payment of outstanding rent. 95 names have been blacklisted by the Development Authority of Nagaland (DAN) as defaulters in rent payment. A cancellation notice issued by the government undertaking today said, “The proceeding to evict the defaulters is under process.” The list of the non-paying tenants along with outstanding amounts as on January 2006 accompanied the statement that the allotments stand cancelled “with immediate effect” and defaulters “shall be evicted without further notice, without prejudicing DAN’s right to realize the outstanding dues.” The cancellation notice was issued by DAN Secretary I Lanukaba Ozukum.
Senior executive of the undertaking, Nungsang Aier, said the eviction process may take time as it has to go through official channels. To carry out the process, the Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur has to form an ‘eviction party’ to remove the defaulters from their stalls. The lowest outstanding figure in the notice stands exactly at Rs 1000 while the highest figures exceed Rs 1 lakh.
