One of the most precise and famous definitions of Democracy is perhaps by Abraham Lincoln the President of the United States of America: DEMOCRACY IS GOVERNMENT BY THE PEOPLE FOR THE PEOPLE AND OF THE PEOPLE. The definition in the Oxford Dictionary is also very informative; DEMOCRACY IS GOVERNMENT BY THE WHOLE POPULATION THROUGH ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES. In the second definition, the phrases “by the whole population” and “elected representatives” are very informative and significant. However, both the definitions are silent on other Key Ideas of what constitutes a Democracy. EQUALITY of the whole population Represented including the Representatives, are Equal. This is a very important principle ingredient of DEMOCRACY. There is yet another cardinal point of Democracy, and that is that, of ‘FREE WILL’ in which the Election of the Representative is conducted without any FAVOR. There are many other Points of what constitutes a DEMOCRACY, yet the Corner Stones are-
i. Equality of ALL, ii. Freewill of ALL, iii. Justice to ALL, iv. PEACEFULNESS of All, and v. FAVOR to NONE.
The Regulations of Democracy hold good for all the Countries of the World and of every People. The Regulations of Democratic Governance is the same everywhere and in every People and One principle of Democracy cannot contradict other principles in the same Democracy. The proposed Regulation of 33% SEAT RESERVATION in Towns, Cities and in Local Bodies of a State for Woman ALONE in India contradicts the Principles of Equality of All.A. This is not Equality for ALL. B. This is not Justice to ALL. C. This is not FREEWILL Democracy of the whole Population. D. It is Political Favor made available only to one Section alone and not equality for the Population as a whole.
This contrivers fundamental modern Freewill Democracy, and is very uncomfortable, unconscionable to the uneducated Naga.
