Government of Nagaland & Sikkim hold training on marketing

Sikkim, October 3 (MExN): A three-day training programme on marketing & value chain development of horticulture crops was jointly organized by Central Institute of Horticulture (CIH) Nagaland and Department of Horticulture, Government of Sikkim at SICUN, Assam Lingzey, East Sikkim from September 26 to 28.The programme was sponsored by National Institute of Agricultural Marketing, Jaipur.
NK Gurung, Principal Director, Horticulture Department, Government of Sikkim speaking at the inaugural function as the chief guest, emphasized the need to further strengthen the marketing system to benefit the farming community and encouraged the participants to contribute towards the betterment of the farmers.
Dr NK Patle, Deputy Commissioner (Hor), DAC&FW & Director incharge CIH, Nagaland graced the inaugural programme as the special guest. Dr Patle highlighted the programmes and activities of the institute and stressed the importance of understanding the concepts and business formats of marketing and value chain to create proper linkage.
Earlier, Tilak Gajmer, Additional Director (INM), Horticulture Department, Government of Sikkim welcomed the dignitaries, resource persons and participants in the programme. Brief remark was given by Jagdish Pradhan, Additional Director (PMKSY/Marketing/EAP), Horticulture Department, Government of Sikkim.
The three-day training had resource persons from various organizations like spices board, CAEPHT, CAU, prominent entrepreneurs and businessman, private companies, horticulture dept & CIH, Nagaland. A field visit was also organized for the participants on September 27 at Kameray Model Horticulture Farm, East Sikkim.
Altogether 23 state government officials and CEOs of 5 FPOs participated in the training which was coordinated by Prabin Das Marketing Specialist, CIH.
