Minister Pangnyu inaugurates PSA Oxygen Plant at District Hospital, Longleng
Longleng, October 29 (MExN): Nagaland Minister for Health and Family Welfare S Pangnyu Phom inaugurated the PSA Oxygen Plant at Longleng District Hospital on October 29.
According to a report from the state DIPR, the dedicatory prayer for the plant was said by Tialemba Phom, Executive Secretary, PBCA Longleng.
Addressing the inaugural programme, Minister Pangnyu said that it was a ‘great day’ not only for the people of Longleng at present, but also the future generations as the unit would be beneficial even in the years to come. He said that in the past, even doctors and nurses could not work to their full potential because of poor infrastructure and limited medicines, however, ‘from this day onward no such inconvenience would occur.’
The Minister said that across Nagaland, every district hospital, private hospitals, etc., have been strengthened and emphasized that no matter what disease or sickness an individual suffers, one should be given proper treatment and services to cure them.
He also said that it was the motive of Prime Minister Narendra Modi that each and every individual from all nooks and corners of the country should be able to avail medical facilities. As such, the Government of India, Minister of Health & Family Welfare, based on the requirements of the states, is providing all required facilities, he maintained.
Pangnyu stated that with the inauguration of the Oxygen Plant, all follow-up works would be done by engineers and technicians. He said that the shortage of power supply is not only seen in Longleng but all over the states, and in this matter, the disaster management team has provided generators to all 6-Units in case of power shortage, the DIPR report stated.
Further, Minister Pangnyu lauded the district task force, doctors, nurses and the combined efforts of civil society, NGOs and churches in cooperating with the department, saying that it was through their cooperation that made the work possible. He also noted that everyone has to be prepared for the 3rd wave. Maintaining that the government of Nagaland is focused on the health sector, he said that every facility and equipment that is required would be provided.
Laying emphasis on the importance of vaccination, the Minister said that the district is doing ‘exceptionally well’ in terms of vaccination. He further urged the medical department to encourage the unvaccinated people to get vaccinated as soon as possible. Calling on the gathering to be prepared for when the 3rd wave arrives, Pangnyu encouraged the health workers and people of the district to ‘not only help ourselves but also have the capacity to help our neighbouring districts in saving lives,' the DIPR report stated.
Earlier in the programme, ADC Longleng D Robin; Pukyong Phom, a public leader, and M Shami Angh, president of PPC president, PPC, also addressed the gathering. Welcome address and opening remark was said by Dr Kibangkumba, Medical Superintendent, District Hospital Longleng and Dr Obangjungla CMO Longleng delivered the vote of thanks, the DIPR reported.
