Kohima, November 12 (MExN): Nagaland Governor PB Acharya and Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Monday led the state in condoling the demise of Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Ananth Kumar.
Kumar, who was also the Union Chemicals and Fertilisers Minister, died on November 12 at a private hospital in Bengaluru. He was 59.
In a condolence message, Acharya stated that late Kumar was a very popular social worker who was elected by very enlightened Constituency of Bengaluru for six consecutive times. “With his untimely demise, people of our Country in general and Karnataka State in particular lost a tall and prominent young leader” he said. The Governor also conveyed his heartfelt condolence to the members of the bereaved family and pray to Almighty to grant strength and solace to bear the irreparable loss.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio in a condolence message remembered Kumar as ‘an able administrator and excelled in the Ministries he handled.”
“His contribution for introducing Neem Coated Urea in the fertilizer sector and reduction in prices of essential medicines and implants in pharmaceuticals sector were path breaking and showed his concern for the farmers and the poor - the true hallmark of a leader,” he said.
“In his demise, people of Karnataka and the nation have lost an able leader who was such an asset to the Government and the Society, Rio added, further conveying his deepest condolences to the family members departed minister.
Deputy CM Y Patton
The Deputy Chief Minister and leader of BJP Nagaland, Y Patton has condoled the demise stating that late Kumar was an able and dynamic statesman, who led an exemplary life of respecting all leaders.
“The BJP Nagaland felt that his demise was not only a great loss for the citizens of Karnataka but for India as a whole,” Patton said in a message. He also conveyed heartfelt condolences to his bereaved family, friends, supporters and the denizens of Karnataka and extended their prayer support during this time of grief.

The Party will remember him as “people’s leader, a veteran parliamentarian and a supreme organizer,” the the Nagaland State BJP stated in condolence note.
He was easily accessible to the common man and was one of the hard working MP, a statement from BJP media cell stated. The Nagaland State BJP President & Minister for Higher and Technical Education Temjen Imna Along with all rank & file also expressed their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prays to the Almighty God to grant solace at this time of pain and sorrow, it added.
