Governor extends greetings on Bihu, Sukrunyi

Kohima, January 14 (MExN): Governor of Nagaland, PB Acharya has extended his greetings to the people of Assamese community living in Nagaland and all over the world on the auspicious occasion of Bhogali Bihu, the harvest festival which marks the end of the harvest season in the state of Assam. Bhogali Bihu is celebrated in North East and the Makar Sankranti in Karnataka, Kerala, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra and Pongal in Tamil Nadu, Lohri in North India, stated a press release from PRO to Governor. The Governor wished that the celebration of the festivals be a harbinger of peace and prosperity in the society.   The Governor also extended warm greetings to the Chakhesang community on Sukrunyi festival. “Let us continue to safeguard and promote the culture and mother tongue which is our identity. Let us also come together and rededicate ourselves to make the atmosphere conducive in our towns and villages for peaceful co-existence and for an all round development in the State,” the Governor urged. He along with his wife Kativa Acharya further conveyed best wishes to the Chakhesang community during the festive period. “May the festival of Sukrunyi bring peace, unity and communal harmony to the Chakhesang community in particular and the Nagas in general.”
