Governor on health sectors, employment opportunities

Kohima, January 26 (DIPR): The state has made remarkable progress in implementation of health insurance scheme for BPL workers and has been named the best performing state in the entire country in terms of enrolment. This was stated by the Governor of Nagaland, Nikhil Kumar at the celebration of the 62nd year of India’s Republic at Kohima.
Stating that the government is focusing on augmenting the health delivery facilities across the state, the Governor noted the partnership with the internationally renowned NGO Doctors without frontiers for running the Mon District Hospital.
He informed that 40,000 families have already been enrolled in the districts of Kohima, Mokokchung, Peren and Phek and another 60,000 families will be enrolled in the remaining districts this year. By enrolling under this scheme, a family of five can avail of medical treatment worth ` 30,000 per year without spending single paisa from their pocket, he added.
He expressed confidence that all the hospitals and other agencies involved in the project would work together to further expand its coverage and deliver the best health care facilities to the people.
In regard to employment, the Governor said that in order to enhance the employability of our youth, the government has taken steps to substantially increase the educational infrastructure in the Higher and Technical Education and other vocational training institutes.
As part of these efforts, the Governor said a new National Institute of Technology which is temporarily functioning from Silchar Campus at present will soon be brought to
Dimapur.
The Governor also mentioned the opening of New Institute of Paramedical Education through a partnership between the Central and State Government and the Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research, Dimapur.
He also mentioned that the State Government’s intention to set up five new polytechnics, five new it is, eleven new skill development centres and a Trainers’ Training Institute to train instructors of vocational education.
With a view to strengthen and supervise overall development of the forestry sector in the implementation of the National Afforestation Programme (NAP) by the Forest Development Agency in the state, a state level agency called the State Forest Development Agency (SFDA) has been constituted during the year.
The Governor said that the department has constituted 763 nos of Joint Forest Management Committee (JFMC) in the state and another 200 villages will be covered during the 11th Plan period.   
Meanwhile, as a part of the 62nd year of the Republic Day celebration at the state capital Kohima at the Secretariat Plaza, the entertainment programme was presented by Music Task force featuring Topeni Assumi Naga Idol 2009 who presented a solo followed by a duet by Menguseü Suokhrie and Keneilezonuo Chalie and the winner of the MTV Rock 2010, the India best Rock Band, Divine Connection.
