Kohima, July 10 (MExN): Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav visited the Integrated AYUSH Hospital at Chedema on July 10, where he reviewed the institution's functioning and interacted with doctors, nurses, paramedical staff and other officials.

Addressing the hospital staff, the Governor appreciated their commitment to healthcare delivery and commended the institution's role in serving the people of the state.

"I appreciate the dedication and unwavering commitment of the doctors, nurses, paramedical staff and all healthcare professionals in delivering quality healthcare services," he said, adding that the hospital had emerged as "a centre of healing and hope" for the people of Nagaland.

The Governor noted that the Integrated AYUSH Hospital, inaugurated on March 4, 2022, is the third such hospital in the country, reflecting the Government's commitment to promoting holistic and integrative healthcare. He also recalled the hospital's role during the COVID-19 pandemic, when it functioned as Nagaland's first designated COVID-19 Hospital.

"India's traditional systems of medicine complement modern healthcare by emphasising preventive care, holistic wellness and healthy living," Yadav said. "With growing awareness of integrative healthcare, institutions like the Integrated AYUSH Hospital have an increasingly important role in providing accessible, affordable and patient-centric healthcare services."

According to a press release from the PRO, Raj Bhavan, the Governor said the review meeting provided an opportunity to assess the hospital's achievements, understand the challenges it faces, and deliberate on measures to strengthen its infrastructure, services and outreach.

He encouraged all stakeholders to continue working "with dedication, innovation and compassion" so that the institution evolves into "a model of excellence in integrated healthcare."

Congratulating the doctors, healthcare workers and staff for their service, the Governor conveyed his best wishes for the hospital's continued efforts towards improving the health and well-being of the people of Nagaland.

During the review, hospital officials presented an overview of the 50-bedded Integrated AYUSH Hospital at Razha Chedema, located about 24 kilometres from Kohima on the Phek-Meluri-Zunheboto Road. Inaugurated by Union Minister of AYUSH Sarbananda Sonowal on March 4, 2022, the hospital serves eight surrounding villages and is the third Integrated AYUSH Hospital established in the country.

Officials informed the Governor that the hospital offers Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, and Homoeopathy services with a workforce of 43 staff members. Since its inception, it has recorded more than 10,050 OPD consultations and treated 560 in-patients up to June 2026.

The hospital also provides free Ayurveda and Homoeopathy medicines, laboratory services at nominal charges, Panchakarma therapy, naturopathy treatment, clinical yoga sessions and emergency care, particularly for road traffic accident victims before referral to Naga Hospital Authority Kohima.

The review highlighted the hospital's outreach initiatives, including free health camps, awareness programmes in neighbouring villages, radio talks promoting the AYUSH system, and observance of occasions such as International Yoga Day, World Homoeopathy Day, International Ayurveda Day, Doctors' Day, International Nurses Day and World Environment Day.

Officials also briefed the Governor on the institution's academic and training activities, including yoga instructor training programmes, medicinal plant workshops, *Prakriti* assessments for security personnel, educational exposure visits and internship programmes for students.

Appreciating the hospital's efforts in promoting holistic healthcare, the Governor encouraged the institution to continue strengthening public outreach, improve healthcare delivery and expand access to quality AYUSH services across the state.
