Kohima: Governor of Nagaland, Dr. Ashwani Kumar today formally launched Poorna Shakti Kendra (PSK) during the observance of International Women’s Day here in the presence of minister for social welfare Kiyanilie Peseyie, parliamentary secretary for women development Pukhayi Sumi and chief secretary Banuo Z. Jamir.

Poorna Shakti Kendra is the focal point of action on ground through which services to women at grassroots level would be facilitated. The mission aims to provide a common platform to facilitate convergence of benefits from programmes of various ministries and departments of the central government.

The mission will also facilitate synergy in implementation of these programmes through their convergence at the state, district and block levels. The ultimate objective is to achieve the mandate of the mission, namely, achieve inter-sectoral convergence of all pro-women and women centric programmes across various departments of the government and place the women’s empowerment concerns at the heart of public policy and governance.

PSK is initiated by National Mission for Empowerment of Women, Ministry of Women & Child Development, Government of India. National Mission for Empowerment of Women was launched by GoI in 2010 with the view to empower women holistically. It aims at strengthening the overall process that promotes all-round development of women by strengthening inter-sectoral convergence and facilitating the process of coordinating all women’s welfare and socio-economic development programmes across ministries and departments in a single window service.
