Dimapur, October 30 (MExN): Governor of Nagaland and Assam Prof Jagdish Mukhi laid the foundation stone of Durga Mandir at Gautam Basti, Khatkhati on October 30.
According to a DIPR report, Governor Mukhi said that the Durga Mandir would be a centre of spirituality and symbol of unity. He said that the nation has made much progress in all spheres during the last 10 years, while adding that India has emerged as one of the fastest growing economies in the world and among the world’s most powerful nations. The credit goes to the farsightedness and leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the unity among the communities, the political parties and religious organizations, he added.
The Governor stated that historically, even when they had no mode of communication and transport, they were united from Himalayas to Kanyakumari because their ancestors built temples and developed a system that people from other parts of the country visit each other’s places and kept them united. Along these lines, he maintained that the temple would also keep the people here united.
Prof Mukhi described the Northeast people as good and cooperative, but very slow in development. However, in the last 8 years, under Act East policy, NE is progressing rapidly and observed that development that happened in the last 8 years were greater than the last 50 years.
Noting the pace of progress in terms of startups and agricultures by the NE people, Jagdish observed that the results would be seen within 5 years and added that Assam, Nagaland and other states will not be behind anyone.
Briefing about the construction of the mandir, Durga Mandir Trust, NCR Nair mentioned that the Trust was constituted on January 21, 2021 with the purpose of maintaining and improving the local religious customs and beliefs.
Nair added that the budget of the temple is around Rs 3 crore and the time frame for completion would be within two to three years.
