Governor, others extend Id-Ul Zuha greetings

Kohima, July 20 (MExN): Nagaland Governor RN Ravi on Tuesday extended warm Id-ul-Zuha (Bakrid) greetings to the Muslim community and the people of Nagaland.

“This festival epitomizes the noble values of sacrifice, trust and forgiveness. I hope that this sacred occasion will usher in good will, harmony and further strengthen the values of our society,” the Governor stated in his message.

He also appealed all to citizens to follow COVID-19 appropriate behaviours while celebrating the occasion and wished them good health, peace and prosperity.

Muslim Council Dimapur: The Muslim Council Dimapur also extended greetings to all the citizens of the state and requested all Muslims to strictly follow the COVID guidelines enforced by the Government of Nagaland while performing Namaz at different prayer houses. It also requested the community to pray for the well-being of all citizens of Nagaland especially during this current pandemic.

It further informed all Masjid management committees to strictly enforce COVID SOPs during prayers and also try to segregate the prayer timings into groups and allow only vaccinated males to perform Namaz inside the Mosque.
Stating that the festival is also a time when animal sacrifices are made, the MCD also requested the community to be mindful of the sentiments of other citizens and maintain a peaceful atmosphere.

NPF Minority Wing: On the occasion, the NPF Minority Wing also extended greetings to the Muslim community and the people of Nagaland and neighbouring areas and expressed hope that this auspicious occasion would be the herald of sustained peace, progress, prosperity and happiness and would further strengthen the bonds of 'harmony, brotherhood and amity', which are the hallmarks of the secularity in the country.

Dy CM: In a separate message, Deputy Chief Minister and BLP leader Y Patton extended greetings and said that during the festival “we should pray for peace tranquillity and healing which should reign supreme.”

He also said that mass gatherings are to be avoided so as to stop community spread of Coronavirus. On behalf of the state BJP legislators, the Dy CM conveyed best wishes to the Muslim community throughout the world.
