Nagaland’s Governor La Ganesan today said that Nagaland state has been an active partner in contributing to the overall development and growth of “our great nation.”

“However, we are all aware of the constraints posed by Naga Political issue, the solution of which still eludes us, in spite of the best efforts and good wishes of everyone concerned,” he said while addressing 75th Republic Day celebration at Nagaland Civil Secretariat Plaza, Kohima.

We remain thankful to all the stakeholders who are working tirelessly to find a peaceful, honourable and acceptable resolution of the issue, he said.

“My Government is keen and committed for an early solution,” Ganesan said and appealed all the stakeholders to rise above their differences, and to make a united final push to arrive at the eagerly awaited solution.

Maintaining that Nagaland has been making good progress in several sectors, he said “We strive for equitable socio-economic development for all parts of the State.”

“However, due to historical and geographical factors, some parts of the state, especially Eastern Nagaland areas are still lagging behind the rest of the State in terms of infrastructure and socio-economic parameters. The State and the Central Government are seized of this issue, and both are firmly committed to suitably address them with the urgency it deserves,” Ganesan said.

‘Nagaland made good headway in sectors of human endeavours’
Stating that Nagaland has made good headway in most sectors of human endeavours over the past six decades of the statehood, he said the credit for this goes to every citizen of the state.

In the field of sports, music and entrepreneurship we have been making rapid strides, he said adding that the state performance in the governance sector has further improved.

“All these positive developments are the outcomes of the people centric developmental policies of the Government on the one hand, and the enduring and resilient character being exhibited by the people of the state,” he said.

Governor was optimistic that with such synergy and cooperation between Government and the robust population, the State can reach much greater heights.

There is still, however, a lot of ground to cover. In this fast moving world, we have to strive harder if we wish to move shoulder to shoulder with the rest of the world, he said.

“On this 75th Republic Day, let us recommit ourselves to become law abiding, and good and responsible citizens of our country, and let us work with renewed enthusiasm to make our beloved Nagaland one of the most progressive and developed States of our great nation,” he said.

Earlier, Governor unfurled National flag and took Rashtriya salute and inspected the Parade.

He also handed over awards and later inaugurated exhibition stalls.

The Republic Day celebration in the state capital Kohima was marked by cultural presentation, visit of institutions by charitable organizations, distribution of sweets at Parade ground, band display, football exhibition and beating of retreat.
