Dimapur, March 29 (MExN): A major eviction drive was carried out by the Dimapur district administration and the police on March 28 in the Directorate of Geology & Mining at Purana Bazar. Ten houses were demolished and the encroachers evicted. The second phase of the eviction is expected soon. One ‘pucca’ house of TA Ngully and a brick wall fencing of one Dr.Shaiza could not be removed due to ‘time constraints’. The department has directed the two constructions to leave immediately.
The department has made clear to one and all that the land is not a government-allotted land but that the department had bought a land patta in 1988 for construction of its residential complex. Therefore any body dealing in the said land covered under Patta number 84, Dag number 40, 41, 42, 43 and 45 under Purana Bazar block, covering an area of 52-03-02Ls shall be doing so at his own risk, the department warned.
Also one Pimomo, a tracer in the Directorate of Land Records & Revenue “who appears to be a professional encroacher” is cheating the innocent public by selling land in the area under Patta number 104 “but actually” allotting within the land of the Directorate of Geology & Mining. The public is advised not to have any land dealings with the person in the said area. Whoever had bought land through/from him in the concerned area, should cross-check and get provide verification from both the Land Revenue department as well as the Geology & Mining Directorate, it was informed.
Officers and staff of the department also had a general meeting on March 29 and resolved to faithfully protect the land and property of the department at any cost. The Geology& Mining department while expressing gratitude to the administration and the police, also appealed to the administration to tackle encroachers firmly.
