DIMAPUR, May 27 (MExN): As the deadline nears for the State Government to arrest or take into custody the persons responsible for the attempted murder on Dr. Maongwati, the Ao Senso Telongem Dimapur reaffirmed their June 2004 resolution, which was adopted after a consultation meeting involving all the village and range representatives of the Ao community held here today.
The Kohima Bench of the Guwahati High Court on April 19, 2006 passed an order directing the State Government to detain all those accused in the murder attempt within a period of 6 weeks. The time allotted to the State Government expires on May 31 and they have to produce the charged/suspected before the magistrate on June 1.
The Ao Senso Telongem Dimapur today convened and deliberated on the issue during which the members of the union resolutely decided to stand by and support any decision or resolution the Ao Senden may take in relation to this case after the lapse of the expiry date.
