Govt failing to protect Constitutional rights: PMA

Dimapur, July 13 (MExN): The Pochury Mothers Association expressed its displeasure over the 33% Women Reservation issue and felt that not only is the Government failing to protect the Constitutional rights of the Women by not implementing the reservation of the women but also denies women the right to participate in political process for women empowerment.
Pochury Mothers Association President, Machü Joshou satted in a press release that as the present reservation process has been adopted for upliftment of a weaker section of the society, it is hope that the Government looks into the genuine demand of their women and implements the much awaited Act at the earliest.
The PMA extended its support to the decision of the apex Naga Mothers Association and the Joint Action Committee with regard to the implementation of the 33% Women Reservation in all the Towns and Municipal Councils, and urged the Government of Nagaland for immediate implementation of the same. And also reiterated that Naga women represent half the population of the state and it is high time that the Government take into consideration the plight of its women.
