Govt playing active role to improve education system in India: Ganesan

KOHIMA, JUNE 12 (MExN): Nagaland Governor, La Ganesan on Wednesday said the government has been playing an active role by introducing policies and regulations to improve education system in India. One such being the National Education Policy, 2020 which is founded on the five guiding pillars of access, equity, quality, affordability, and accountability. 

He was addressing the Governor’s Awards for various toppers, rank holders and achievers of HSLC and HSSLC Examinations 2024 at Dr Imkongliba Ao Hall, Raj Bhavan, Kohima, informed a DIPR report. 

"He said the NEP also aims to provide well-trained and most qualified teachers for the students of India, to provide critical thinking and problem solving abilities, along with social and emotional skills," he underscored.  

Ganesan added that this policies are aimed at preparing the youths to meet the diverse national and global challenges of the present and future. 

Observing that India is already the fastest growing economy in the world and there are many opportunities for growth not only in Nagaland but also across India, he wished to see the students present to be good leaders of today and tomorrow and be self-sufficient.

The Governor encouraged the students to think outside the box to boost their creativity and take up new challenges in this extremely challenging world and added that they are fortunate to have good facilities and infrastructures, and have been providing with quality education by trained and experienced teachers. 

Ganesan also announced that cash awards for the students will be enhanced from next year. He, meanwhile, acknowledged the achievements of the students who have made their families, school, and society proud with their hard work, dedication, and perseverance. 

He said that the event was not just to celebrate the achievement of the students but also to give due credit to the teachers, families and friends for the unconditional and unwavering support that they have bestowed throughout the journey of the students. Advisor School Education and SCERT, Dr Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, in his address, urged the students to work harder as the world was open to them and they can achieve even higher heights.

He encouraged the students to strive towards excellence as they will be the future leaders who are going to lead the State and its people. He wished all the students the very best in all their future endeavours.

EAC Mokokchung, Alemyim Isaac Solo gave a brief inspirational talk to the students wherein she expressed that inspiration is something that make ideas evolve into actions and success. 

Solo further urged the students to find inspiration in the everyday things around them and not to get de-motivated by challenges and difficulties they face, in the pursuit of their dreams. 

She spoke on the importance of mental health and how it affects and determines one’s success in life and that one should not shy away from openly dealing with mental issues and seeking professional help if the need so arises. She encouraged the students to cultivate good habits and not to be afraid to move out of their comfort zones. 

Chairperson, NBSE Asano Sekhose gave the introductory address while Commissioner & Secretary, School Education & SCERT Kevileno Angami pronounced the vote of thanks.  All together 62 students from HSLC and HSSLC were felicitated at the programme.
