Govt to frame VGs Service Rules

Imtilemba appeals Village Guards to continue heroic performance

Jubilation was doing the rounds within the camps of nearly 10,000 Village Guards (VGs) personnel during its 49th Raising Day as the State Government announced to consider framing of the Village Guards Service Rules in the state.

“In order to streamline the functioning of the VG organisation and to provide protection to the cadres of the VG personnel, framing of the Village Guards Service Rules in the state is under active consideration of the government,” said Minister for Transport & Communication Imtilemba Sangtam while gracing the 49th Raising Day of VGs as the Chief guest at Kiphire Local Ground this morning.

The Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN) government headed by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio was initiating adequate steps to rationalize the VGs organization, the Minister said.

Saying that the VGs are known for their valour and loyalty, the Minister has made a fervent request to the VGs personnel to keep up their good record and continue to serve the government and thereby serve the people in the villages with utmost sincerity and loyalty.

The government was taking all measures to strengthen this utility force and look after their welfare effectively, Imtilemba said.

The Minister also appealed to all the VG personnel to keep up their good old records of heroic performance and continue to serve the villages with loyalty and sincerity to maintain law and order effectively and thereby usher peace and progressive development in the area.

“The people of Mon, Tuensang, Kiphire, Longleng districts and a part of Phek district should be proud that they are having their own VGs in the villages who are always alert to protect them from any trouble or untoward activities and maintain peace,” the Minister added.

The VG jawans are spread over the villages under five districts - Tuensang, Mon, Longleng, Kiphire and Meluri area of Phek district.
