KOHIMA, FEB 16 (DIPR): Administrative Training Institute Director FP Solo said that a mass-skill up-gradation training programme for officers and staff of Directorates would be revived during 2007-2008. In a letter circulated to all heads of departments, Solo said although the training programme for Directorate employees was undertaken in 2005, it could not make much headway. The programme was launched with a view to improve the skills, effectiveness and efficiency among employees.
ATI is therefore proposing to revive the training programme for employees under the Directorates during 2007-2008 beginning with the training of LDAs and UDAs from April 2007. Solo said the training has been made compulsory and passing of the test at the end of the course has also been made a necessary condition for considering the next promotion. The duration of the training is for one week.
The ATI Director has requested all the departments to furnish a list of employees with their designations from Additional Directors to LDAs (equivalent ranks).
Mass skill up-gradation training programmes were started in Nagaland in 2004 to make employees more effective and responsive to the fast changing administrative-working scenario. The ATI has so far imparted training to 468 employees o f the Secretariat ranging from LDAs to Additional Secretaries since then.
