
Kohima, August 29 (MExN): The Gorkha Public Panchayat Kohima (GPPK) held its annual general body meeting at its Multi Utility Hall in Chandmari, Kohima on August 28.
Nagaland Gorkha Association (NGA) President Nobin Pradhan and General Secretary Prem Kumar Thapa were the special invitees. They exhorted the Gorkhas to remain united and support each other, a press release from the GPPK Publicity Committee informed in a press release on Monday.
The meeting deliberated on various important issues pertaining to the welfare of the community in Kohima district. GPPK Advisor and former president Gayatri Devi and senior member of the community Bhim Rai spoke on the topics ‘Social reform in present context for the progress of the Gorkha community’ and ‘Issues confronting the Gorkha community – Remedial measures,’ respectively, the release stated.
Gaon Burah Kamal Bahadur Chetri also exhorted the gathering while GPPK felicitated four individuals – Dev Bahadur Mahatra, Ashok Singh, Prem Pradhan and Romit Rana for rendering selfless service to the community.
The mmeting was chaired by GPPK vice president Prabhu Gurung while GPPK General Secretary Suresh Kumar Lama presented the secretarial report and Welfare Secretary Mohan Gurung highlighted the audit report of the treasurer.
In the second session, Convenor of Election/Selection Committee Ranjeet Lama announced the new team of the GPPK office bearers for the tenure 2022-25 with incumbent President Santu Thapa and General Secretary Suresh Kumar Lama to lead the new team in the same capacity.
Election/Selection Committee member Meghraj Lama tendered the vote of thanks, it added.
