GPRN/NSCN cadres join NSCN (K)

Kohima, November 13 (MEXN): A total of 28 cadres from GPRN/NSCN from two regions left the set-up and joined NSCN (K) Monday. The defectors brought with them several arms and included personnel from both the civil and army set-up.

According to a release from Suruhuto designated camp, United Sangtam Region (USR) “chairman” N. Moses and with “joint secretary” Khekaho along with four members each in the rank of Khapur and Leacy, one khapur and seven from the army wing joined the NSCN (K) fold.

The armed cadres who defected to NSCN (K) were led by “major” Yangpongse and “2nd Lt. Sachenpi” and included three cadres in the rank of “sergeant major” and two “corporals.” The defectors brought along with them six numbers of arms.

The release stated that members from the USR had no ill will against the GPRN/NSCN leadership but foresaw no political vision or future with the GPRN/NSCN set-up and therefore joined the NSCN (K) which they claimed as a legitimate organisation that stood for the cause of the Nagas.

In another instance of defection, seven GPRN/NSCN cadres based at Ghukiye designated camp joined the NSCN (K) set-up the same day. Those who defected included “captain” Akito, “2nd Lt.” Azheto , “sergeant” Tovi, “lance corporal” Khuhevi, “2nd Lt.” Inato, “2nd Lt.” Toshi, “lance corporal” Aloto and “corporal” Kiyeshe. Upon their arrival at Suruhuto designated camp, the defected cadres submitted eight arms.

The release informed that the cadres were “confused” with the way the GPRN/NSCN was functioning. It cited instances where the Assam Rifles personnel kept vigil at Ghukiye designated camp every time any instance of factional killings resulted between the NSCN (K) and GPRN/NSCN. According to the release, the defected cadres resolved to work for the true cause of the Naga nation and therefore quit the GPRN/NSCN set-up to join the NSCN (K).
