GPRN/NSCN condemns NSCN (IM)’s ‘provocative’ detention of its cadre

DIMAPUR, AUGUST 4 (MExN): The GPRN/NSCN has condemned what it termed as the NSCN (IM)’s “modus operandi” of “intercepting and detaining cadres of GPRN/NSCN and suppressing them to either join their fold or quit and resign from GPRN/NSCN under duress by making them sign Conditional Bonds.

A press release from the MIP of the GPRN/NSCN accused the NSCN (IM) of exploring “ways to exert their repugnant agendas to stir up a hostile situation.” “Their uncalled provocative activities in the midst of the fragile amicable environment so far arrived have become a matter of Naga people’s collective introspection,” it stated.

It informed that in a recent such incident in the Ao region, “a cadre of GPRN/NSCN who was on leave to attend her ailing mother was detained by the cadres of NSCN (IM) a few days back and kept under condition of 3 months home arrest with a monetary fine in lakhs and intimidated to either quit GPRN/NSCN or join NSCN (IM).”

“Conducting inimical and martial operations without any hesitation and in a liberal manner as if patronised and endorsed by the people of the land, who are synonymously considered as ‘harbingers of peace’ is not only detrimental and an insensitive insult to the reputation of our Ao brothers and sisters but a notorious scheme of disturbing peace and tranquillity,” it stated.

The GPRN/NSCN said that “exerting prowess upon the unarmed cadres of other NPGs most of whom are on leave by the cadres of NSCN-IM have to stop.” Taking undue advantages and preying upon the cadres and workers of other NPGs in this perusing time is no more relevant nor would it serve as some kind of accomplishment, it added.

The GPRN/NSCN meanwhile said that it stands committed to “forge unity and peace amongst the various NPGs and public alike and had been unequivocally upright in advocating the desires and sentiments of the Naga people.” “Allowing such precedence (military campaign & operation amongst Nagas) to continue in our land and midst would be an unwise step which should be reined in and done away with...” it said.

The GPRN/NSCN meanwhile said that “service to the nation is voluntary and owing allegiance to work under any banner and leadership is according to one’s choice and perspective and not the other way around to be forced under obligation.”

It insisted that the NSCN (IM) “approach the prevailing reality with courteousness if they truly consider supporting the well-being of the Naga people and society and contain their cadres from flexing belligerent field activities unnecessarily.”
