GPRN/NSCN mourn demise of Col Nikheyi Assumi

Dimapur, October 10 (MExN): The GPRN/NSCN has mourned the demise of Colonel Nikheyi Assumi, Union Territory Region who passed away on October 9 at his residence.

A press release from MIP, GPRN/NSCN stated that Col Nikheyi Assumi enrolled in the Naga national service in July 1991 and served the nation for 31 years wholeheartedly with full commitment and doubtless patriotism for the cause of the Naga National movement till his last breath. 

In his demise the nation have loss one of the most dedicated and admired officer. His impressive service records and dedication for the Naga nation shall ever be cherished and treasured in the pages of Naga history, the MIP stated. 

Gen Samson Aye, Commander-in-Chief, Naga Army, GPRN/NSCN on behalf of all the ranks and files of Naga Army also paid homage and lauded the exemplary personality of the late officer who has been very much respected and admired for his prolific and determinate dedication toward his duty as a capable Naga army officer. 

Col Nikheyi Assumi, who lived up as a true Naga soldier till his demise was known for his courageousness and displayed steadfast character all throughout his service for the Naga nation. Gen. Samson Aye also mentioned that the Naga Army and Naga nation is grateful and deeply honoured to have had a compatriot of his stature. The Naga Army gives highest respect and salute to Col Nikheyi Assumi, Aye stated. 

Brig Khuiho Yeptho, Brigade Commander, Ghukiye Designated Camp on behalf of the Brigade Headquarters also expressed condolences to Col Nikheyi Assumi’s near and dear ones. 

Bidding farewell to the late officer, Brig. Khuiho Yeptho conveys that the service and companionship of Col Nikheyi Assumi in the national service will be very much missed and well remembered in days to come. His demise is a great loss for the Nation, Yeotho stated.
