‘GPRN/NSCN’ on recent arrests

Dimapur, December 20 (MExN): The “GPRN/NSCN” has clarified on the recent “arrests” made on December 16 and 18. “If killings, as Hebron camp believes, could serve the purpose of the Nagas, Hutovi Chishi, tatar, Imcha Longkumer, joint secretary, and their lady friend, who were arrested on 16th December would have met their end the same evening”, stated a note issued by the outfit’s ‘publicity cell’. Pointing out that if “Tribalism and communal agenda ruled GPRN/NSCN, Ms. Salem Tangkhul, chairperson, NSWON and two of her staffs arrested on 18th December would not have seen another day”.

The note from the ‘GRPRN/NSCN’ clarified that the “arrested officials are detained not for their individual crimes, not for the communities they belong but because they represent the institution that is killing too many innocent Nagas, without any compunction, to sustain the so-called National principle”. The publicity cell note stated that the “arrested officials” as the “GPRN/NSCN understood, are victims of Hebron politics”. “It is therefore reminded to all the concerned that the period of detention of Hebron officials is purely the prerogative of the GPRN/NSCN”.

The outfit expressed its ‘sympathy for the pain and anguish caused to families, relatives and friends of Hebron camp officials who are presently under the custody of Naga Army’. “To a mere observer, it may be viewed as gross injustice inflicted upon fellow Christians particularly at a time when entire humanity awaits the birthday of Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace. Some may say the arrests and detentions are contrary to principles of reconciliation and unification among the Nagas. Yet, the dastardly actions of Hebron campers in the preceding weeks were too dangerous to be ignored. Thus, it regretfully forced the Naga Army out of its shell”, the note asserted.

The “GPRN/NSCN”  also drew the attention of families, friends and various organizations seeking immediate release of the detained officials “whether the pain and horror experienced by Theja Kent Rengma’s wife and children on 9th December, when the father was pulled out from under the bed and shot dead in cold blood, is less painful in any manner”. “Can the children forget their father’s dying look? Who will take the blame? Who ordered the attack on unarmed Naga Army cadres near petrol pump at 3rd mile on 15th December?” the note questioned while adding that such “actions are nothing but a clampdown on genuine reconciliatory expressions”.

“The dead shall never rise up and comfort the living. Only the living must either suffer silently or seek justice for the crime perpetrated”, it stated while pointing out that the ‘GPRN/NSCN’ did not wish to retaliate through killings yet when outmost restraint is taken as a sign of weakness, it will not lie down.

“GPRN will not rest so long as the wailings of widows and orphans rent the air. Political Solution, Freedom, Sovereignty, Independence, Interdependence, Self determination of the Nagas people etc., is best enjoyed by parents and children together and not by widows and orphans alone in a killing-ravaged Christian nation. This is the principle stand of GPRN/NSCN”, it stated.

The ‘GPRN/NSCN’ acknowledged the concern of Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL), Tangkhul Katamnao Long (TKL), Tangkhul Shanao Long (TSL) etc., on the arrest of Ms. Salem, Chairperson of NSWON and her two staffs. “GPRN/NSCN recognizes that while Ms. Salem is a woman yet, she holds a cabinet status position at Hebron Camp and is a part and parcel of the group holding at ransom the idea of Naga Reconciliation and Unification”, it stated. The ‘GPRN/NSCN’ pointed out that it was “worth reminding” to all Tangkhul Organisations that “when so many innocent Nagas are killed or tortured to death on a regular basis, they are expected to, as responsible organizations, voice their concern irrespective of tribe or region”. “GPRN/NSCN has much respect for all Tangkhul Organizations but the stark reality dawns on all the Nagas that Tangkhul community, as a whole, have been victimized to a great extend with no question asked or answer sought. Parents who raise spoilt brats in the society burden themselves more”.

The ‘GPRN/NSCN’ stated that “regretfully, the brouhaha of the redundant Indo-Naga political talks still has its hold over many Naga community leaders completely numbing their inquisitive instinct in the process” and that the “philosophy of rampant killing in the name of National Principle does not exist anywhere in the world”. “Can the Nagas effort to allow it?   God, the creator of Nagaland will not be pleased if we do nothing even when innocent Nagas are mercilessly killed for believing in Reconciliation and Unity of the Nagas”.
