“GPRN/NSCN” seeks cooperation for shooting case

“Inquiry committee” to table report within 15 days

Dimapur, May 5 (MExN): Referring to the recent shooting of two student leaders in Dimapur by “GPRN/NSCN” cadres, the outfit today sought for “cooperation” from “all aggrieved parties” till its “inquiry committee” tables the ‘findings’.  A note from the “GPRN/NSCN” ‘publicity cell’ today claimed that “failure to abide by the ahza by its members demands punishment according to the offence”. “The personnel responsible for 2nd May incident have been arrested and detained. GPRN/NSCN has set up a five-member committee to urgently pursue the case involving the serious injury caused to the two student leaders on 2nd may 2009,” the publicity cell said.

Till the so-stated “inquiry committee” tables “its findings” within the period of fifteen days, the note requested co-operation from “all aggrieved parties” seeking justice for the injured student leaders. The group assured not to leave any stone unturned to “reform” its “civil” and “military wings” to follow “the path that guarantees free and frank communication with Nagas at all levels”.

The publicity cell stated that the “GPRN/NSCN harbors no ill-will towards any organization, group or individual for the harsh comments post 2nd May incident.” It however noted “the duplicity and hollow comment of IM gang trying to twist the incident to suit their evil plan.”

SKK extends ultimatum 
Dimapur, May 5 (MExN): The All Sumi Students’ Union has extended till May 11, the ultimatum served to the “GPRN/NSCN” to hand over the cadres responsible for shooting two student leaders on May 2. In response to the “GPRN/NSCN” the SKK said in a note today that the students’ organization met  and decided to extend the dateline to May 11, 12:00 noon “in consideration of your technical problems”.  The SKK however, reiterated its warning to the group, that an own course of action would be forced if the demands are not met. 

SKK speaker still critical 
Dimapur, May 5 (MExN): The condition of All Sumi Students’ Union’s Speaker Benito Swu is said to be in a critical position still, with doctors saying that they have to wait for 15 more days to assess whether an operation can be done or not.  Benito was seriously injured when he was shot in the neck on May 2 by gunmen, later admitted to be from the “GPRN/NSCN”. A colleague, Atoka was also shot in the hip in the traumatic so-stated “mistaken identity” incident. Benito is admitted in the Guwahati Neurological Research Centre (GNRC) in Guwahati after being airlifted from Dimapur on May 2 from Zion Hospital.  

An SKK official, while informing that his condition is still critical, informed that the bullet is remains lodged in the neck of the victim, and that it has touched some vital nerve points. The injured SKK leader is able to respond to conversations, but he cannot see visitors for long periods. Meanwhile, the other injured Sumi student leader, Atoka, is said to be recovering after a successful operation.
