DIMAPUR, MAY 13 (MExN): The GPRN/NSCN (Unification) has cautioned the public against individuals and groups allegedly impersonating its members to collect illegal taxes in and around commercial hubs of Nagaland.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by its MIP, the group said it has received credible information that certain elements are taking advantage of the prevailing situation by extorting money under the guise of being affiliated with the GPRN/NSCN (Unification).
Advising the general public, business establishments, and civil society organisations to remain vigilant, the group urged people to verify any such claims and refrain from dealing with imposters.
Invoking its Standing Order, the GPRN/NSCN (U) warned that any person or group found engaging in unauthorised tax collection or soliciting donations in its name would face "severe consequences without reservation."
“Failure to comply with this notification will be at one’s own risk,” the statement added. The group also provided contact numbers (+91 69096 25173 / +91 89743 83281) for verification or further queries.
