GPRN/NSCN (U) mourns demise of senior functionary Dovishe Chophi

Dimapur, August 17 (MExN): The GPRN/NSCN (Unification) has expressed profound sorrow over the death of its senior functionary Dovishe Chophi, who passed away on Monday.

According to a statement issued by the group's Ministry of Information and Publicity, Chophi was the son of late Xevishechophi, a native of Litsami and resident of Hevishe village under Kuhuboto Sub-Division in Niuland district. He died on August 17. 

The group described his death as a profound loss to his family, comrades and those who knew him.

Chophi joined the Naga nationalist movement on May 16, 1956, and remained committed to what the organisation described as the Naga national cause throughout his life.

It said his sincerity, steadfastness and loyalty were commendable and that he discharged responsibilities in various capacities with dedication and distinction during his long years of service.

At the time of his death, Chophi was serving as a Kilonser, the statement said.

The GPRN/NSCN (Unification) extended condolences to the bereaved family and relatives and prayed that they find strength and solace in the memories of his life and service.

It also paid tribute to his legacy of service and sacrifice, saying it would continue to inspire those committed to the Naga national cause.
