Dimapur, July 10 (MeXN): The Chess Olympiad Torch reached Nagaland on July 10 with the arrival of Grandmaster Ankit Rajpara at the Dimapur Airport, Sunday afternoon.

Rajpara will reach the Heritage Old DC Bungalow on July 11, where the Nagaland Chess Association is organising a Blitz tournament to mark the 1st ever Chess Olympiad Torch Relay for the 44th Chess Olympiad 2022.

A DIPR report informed that the 44th edition of the Chess Olympiad has been awarded by the World Chess Federation (FIDE) to the All India Chess Federation (AICF) and is scheduled to be held at Mahabalipuram, Tamil Nadu from July 28 to August 10.

To mark the event being held in India, the FIDE has instituted the torch rally covering 75 iconic locations of the country as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations, it said.

Nagaland Chess Association has informed that there will be cash prize for open under-18 and under-14 years category during the Blitz tournament and has extended invitation to the chess players, chess enthusiasts, parents and chess lovers to witness the Olympiad Rally.
