GST revenue jumps 12% in February across India; 64% in Nagaland

New Delhi, March 1 (MExN):  At Rs 1.49 lakh crore, India's goods and services tax (GST) collection for the month of February jumped by 12%, year-on-year.

In an official release, the Union Ministry of Finance informed that  gross GST revenue collected in the month of February 2023 was Rs 1,49,577 crore of which CGST is Rs 27,662 crore, SGST is Rs 34,915 crore, IGST is Rs 75,069 crore (including Rs35,689 crore collected on import of goods) and Cess is Rs 11,931 crore (including Rs 792 crore collected on import of goods)

The revenues for the month of February 2023 are 12% higher than the GST revenues in the same month last year, which was Rs. 1,33,026 crore. 

During the month, revenues from import of goods was 6% higher and the revenues from domestic transaction (including import of services) are 15% higher than the revenues from these sources during the same month last year, the release said. 

This month witnessed the highest cess collection of Rs11,931 crore since implementation of GST, it added. 
A table showing state-wise figures of GST collected in each State during the month of February 2023 as compared to February 2022 provided by the Ministry informed that Nagaland also witnessed a 64% jump in collection from Rs 33 crore to Rs 54 crore. 

In terms of percentages, Mizoram saw the highest surge among the states with a 138% increase from Rs 24 crore in February 2022 to Rs 58 crore in February 2023. The Union Territory of Lakshadweep also saw a 274% jump from Rs 1 crore to Rs 3 crore during the corresponding month. 

Only in Meghalaya, there was a negative growth of 6%, with collection falling from Rs 201 crore in February 2022 to Rs 189 crore in February 2023.
