DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 3 (MExN): The Angami Youth Organisation (AYO) has applauded the courageous act of the members of the Southern Angami Youth Organisation (SAYO) for apprehending two gun wielding cadres of the NSCN (K) who were extorting money from a quarry/stone crusher firm near Kohima today. This was informed in a press note issued by AYO President Khrielievi Chusi.
The AYO based on information received stated that the two NSCK (K) cadres identified as 2nd Lieutenant Mughato Yepthomi s/o Khunito Yepthomi of Sakami village and Sgt. Major Zukiho Awomi s/o Late Aheto Awomi of Zaphumi village came demanding money from a quarry/Stone Crusher firm and started brandishing their weapon and threatened the people there. When one of them began to cock his weapon some youth present at the spot reacted immediately and overpowered them before the extortionists could fire their weapon or do any harm to the people present. According to the press note, the duo were apprehended, thrashed and later handed over to the South Police Station, Kohima.
The AYO while appreciating the Southern Angami Youth Organisation members for their courageous act also condemned the act of the two gun wielding cadres of the NSCN (K). “The reason for brandishing their gun and cocking it is best known to them but the intention of their act is obvious and can be termed as an act of attempt on the lives of the people there. Had it not been for the bravery of the SAYO members, the situation could have resulted in a tragedy”, the AYO stated.
