Guns N' Roses detained at Canadian border for gun possession

Reunited rockers Guns N' Roses - who are legendary for their off-stage antics - were detained at the Canadian border for gun possession as they traveled to Toronto for an arena gig. Band frontman Axl Rose told nearly 50,000 fans at Saturday night's concert that border officers found the gun when the musicians and their entourage arrived at a crossing on Friday. The band members were eventually let go because the gun did not belong to any of them, the singer said.   Guns N' Roses arrived late for the sold-out Toronto gig but performed 25 songs - including three during an encore capped with Paradise City - over nearly three hours. Rose, 54, discussed the incident at the border before the band played Out Ta Get Me, its 18th song of the night. 'You did what? What? "Oh yeah, we found a gun",' Rose recalled as he paced on the stage. 'So, we weren't exactly arrested, but we were detained for a while.'   Fans cheered as Rose emphasized the word 'detained' and offered a cheeky smile. 'They were very nice. They were very understanding,' he said of the border officers. 'You know, it happens. You can forget you have a f****** gun.' Rose offered a sarcastic shrug and a smile to lead guitarist Slash, adding: 'It wasn't my gun.' He didn't reveal which member of the band's entourage was in possession of a gun.   A Guns N' Roses representative told Billboard that the band was stopped as it crossed the border after performing in Philadelphia last Thursday. The spokesperson said the gun did not belong to a band member. Daily Mail Online has contacted Canada Border Services Agency for comment. It's not the first time the band has been stopped at the Canadian border for weapon possession. In 1998, Rose told Spin magazine he was arrested at the border for having a stun gun. 'I didn't know they're illegal there,' he told the magazine.

Guns N' Roses' reunion tour, called Not In This Lifetime, will take them across the US and to parts of South America through November. The Toronto gig was the tour's only Canadian stop. It's the first time in more than 20 years original band members Rose, Slash and bassist Duff McKagan have shared a stage, although Rose has toured under the Guns N' Roses name without them.
