Phek, November 8 (MExN): The hailstones which occurred on November 3, 2017 at Leshemi Village under Pfutsero Sub-Division of Phek District have severely damaged a number of paddy fields.
The Kalos Society Pfutsero, on receiving the report, visited Leshemi village and interacted with the village leaders. According to Wezhiepe Sara, VCC, “in the village history, it was one of the major damages caused by such unfortunate natural disaster.”
The VCC added that in some areas, nothing was left except the straw without a single grain. Some individual cultivator lost more than 46 bags of paddy. The worst affected areas were at Lezhe, Kaphe and Tekhwe. It was also reported that more than 100 households were affected. The cost of damage is estimated to be in terms of lakhs.
The Kalos Society Pfutsero in a press release said while sharing solidarity with the cultivators appealed the authority concerned to look into the matter and give relief on the humanitarian ground to facilitate the needs of the poor cultivators during this hour. The Society also requested all citizens to pray and support the poor cultivators during this time of agony and loss.
