Hailstones hit parts of Suruhuto-Asuto

Zunheboto, April 19 (MExN): Hailstones as big as the size of a walnut fell in and around Suruhuto-Asuto town under Zunheboto district at around 11:30 PM on April 18.   According to NPF 33 AC Suruhuto-Asuto President Kihoi Awomi, the worst affected was Saghemi Village where roofs of 171 houses were damaged. Altogether the damaged houses are estimated to be above 500 in the said area.   Parliamentary Secretary for Fisheries and Printing & Stationeries, Shetoyi Sumi donated an amount of Rs. 1000/- each to all affected households for immediate relief and rehabilitation.

  The people of Suruhuto-Asuto Area and NPF party of 33 AC have thanked Shetoyi Sumi for taking immediate step in assisting the affected people of Suruhuto-Asuto Area.   Meanwhile, in this connection, NPF 33 AC Suruhuto-Asuto has made an appeal to the government of Nagaland to assess the damages caused by the hailstorm and provide requisite materials and funds for restoring and rebuilding the damaged houses immediately.
