In lieu of the recent Naga political development(s); there emerges broader Naga political confusion which is looming large head over heels. While one faction belonging to Isak –Muivah reportedly, endorsing for a solution in the Naga inhabited areas of Manipur state and if believed, in present Nagaland. Unification group ( Khole-Kitovi) publicly spelling out a better political roadmap involving every inch of Nagas & strictly contemplating-- any solution, that may come, restricted only to Nagas of Nagaland. And now the NSCN-K, recently proclaiming that any solution, if achieved, should not only confine to the Nagas of Nagaland but also beyond the boundaries--- Nagas of Burma (presently Myanmar) and elsewhere.
With these development(s), Nagas, today are in greater dilemma like never before and majority of them are caught in this ‘’political cross-fire’’. To further add to the problem, recently leaders from the Congress party, apparently claiming –possible solution before Christmas and the ruling DAN Govt tiredlessly saying they’ve given their best, while not ruling out possible solution.
Any Naga, would not want to ridicule any of these claims as we never know what NEW DELHI has in mind, or what policy NEW DELHI is pursuing, while not doubting GOI’s sincerity, it remains to be seen if any solution would seriously arrive at, before the next assembly elections in Nagaland. We, ardently laud every of our Leaders for their supreme sacrifices & dedication and while not questioning any of their credibility—I honestly have a view that that they are very much accountable to the people, to the land where, we, dared, not to give even an inch to the oppressors, where precious Naga souls were lost in the line of duty, in the Land where gallant leaders of the Naga club in the year 1927, boldly told Sir John Simon (Chairman, Statutory Commission), ‘’ We never asked for any reforms and we do not wish for any reforms, leave us alone to determine ourselves as in ancient times’’. It is high time reality dawned on all of us, introspect and critically analyse ourselves: have a healthy debate on these issues, express & listen to each one’s views without being threatened & stop the blame game, lest we charter ourselves as irrelevant intellectuals in the eyes of our detractors as Incompetent and inconsistent Nagas; who are miserably and ridiculously failing to bring a strong political future consistent political roadmap, even after so many rounds of political negotiations and peace talks.
The convergent between Naga public and various other relevant organizations, factions -is on issues that for long we insisted. Hence, it must be in our endeavour to try to bring about a solution acceptable to all, on the lines of common aspirations & common interests. Intellectually, we are not incarcerated by any alien force; it is us, it is ourselves getting incarcerated due to ur own misguided propagandas, selfish motives to curry one’s own interests, blatant call for reigning each other and the bizarre mentality of knowing everything, in spite of knowing nothing! Our society is full of many stakeholders. Each with their own interests. Sensationalism is also playing a bigger role in the present Naga society. What are we going to do about it? The situation now lies in tatters! We would need to have the resoluteness to push for greater social/intellectual reforms that would enhance our approach and further consolidate our efforts for broader peace and ‘’true/honest’’ reconciliation.
