The honourable Chief Minister, Shri Neiphiu Rio who had said ‘he is willing to go to jail for Nagas’ is very amusing, if it is really true. The complaint against him lodged by the Manipur Cabinet to Election Commission of India(ECI) is yet to be investigated and that if ever the ECI do proceeds to take up this case against him, it will be on his ‘hate speech’ against the Chief Minister of Manipur.
It must be remembered that the infamous ‘hate speech’ cannot be condoned nor can it be justified whether it is from the mouth of a Chief Minister himself, or from any individual since nobody can call anybody as enemy unless it is a war time. As a responsible Naga leader, it was least expected from the Chief Minister of such an abominable utterances since Nagas are not at war with anybody, nor with our close neighbours least of all, the people of Manipur. In fact, it is time for the NPF party and the Chief Minister in particular to be working hard in trying every possible means to maintain peaceful co-existence with all the neighbouring communities and Governments in line with the so claimed ‘facilitator’ role being played by NPF towards bringing about honourable and acceptable solution to the protracted Naga political problem, instead of antagonizing our close neighbours. It is a hard fact that unless we Nagas know how to live in peace with dignity with other communities, our cry for peaceful solution may never see the light.
The Chief Minister is proclaiming that the NPF party shall be launching in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh very soon. It is feared that this blind ambition of NPF policy if pursued shall be the biggest stumbling block towards the realization of the long pending aspirations of Naga people for peaceful resolution of its political problem.
The Congress party is one of the best examples of Democratic institution in a democratic country where each and every member has an equal voice and rights unlike the NPF party who is founded, moulded, and ruled by one person alone where nobody including its very titular President had a voice or a right, that is why the Congress party have already called the NPF led DAN Government as ‘One Man Show Government’ long before and that the time is not far when the NPF party will die with Rio.
Let it be reminded that if ever the honourable Chief Minister have to be jailed, it will be because of his rampant indulgence in corruptions, embezzlement and aggrandizement of public money, nepotism, etc but not for the cause of the Naga people.
